"Although I now live in Warwickshire my work is still strongly influenced by my childhood in Cornwall pottering about on fishing boats, playing on the beach and walking on the moors.
I have small children and enjoy seeing the world through their eyes where no detail is missed and the seemingly mundane can be fascinating and the beginning of a story. I keep my houses and cottages intentionally simple in order to free the imagination and allow the pieces to evoke the viewers own memories and experiences. My fused glass allows me to capture some of the colour and movement of the sea whether the ocean itself or the rockpools and streams of the shore. I also enjoy creating fun, quirky characters that bring a smile and joy to those who see them.
As well as a passion for glass I have always been fascinated by the variety of textures, shapes and colours in natural stones as well as their tactile nature. Using them in my work makes each piece individual and challenges me to work with their unique characteristics. They are a never ending source of inspiration.
Each sculptural piece can go through up to 10 different processes from traditional copper foil work and soldering to fusing and kiln carving as well as freehand engraving and adding fabrics and other materials before it is finished."
